Canadian Road National Championships 2026
Every year, the Canadian Road National Championships bring together the country's best cyclists to compete for the coveted Maple Leaf jersey. For PNW Racing, Nationals represent one of the most important events of the season, an opportunity for our athletes to test themselves against Canada's top junior riders while showcasing months of preparation, dedication, and teamwork.
This year's championships, held in St-Prosper and St-Georges, Québec, delivered three exciting days of racing across the Individual Time Trial, Road Race, and Canadian Criterium Championships.
The weekend was highlighted by another National Championship title, several top-10 performances, and countless moments that demonstrated the strength and character of our team.
Day 1: Individual Time Trial: A National Champion Once Again
The championships opened with the Junior Men's Individual Time Trial, and PNW Racing delivered an outstanding performance.
For the second consecutive year, PNW Racing crowned the Canadian Junior Men's Time Trial National Champion as Mitch Williams powered his way to the top step of the podium, earning the prestigious Maple Leaf jersey.
Watching one of our riders stand atop the podium wearing the Canadian colours is always a special moment, and it's a testament to the commitment, preparation, and hard work Mitch has put in throughout the season.
Individual Time Trial Results: 🥇 Mitch Williams – Canadian National Champion
Having every rider complete the demanding time trial course was an excellent way to begin the championships and set the tone for the weekend ahead.
A huge thank you goes to our Directors Sportif Steph, Paul, Sarah and everyone behind the scenes who helped prepare the team for Nationals. Success like this truly is a team effort.
Day 2: Canadian Road Race Championships
The Junior Men's Road Race took place under much more favourable conditions than previous years, with sunshine replacing the rain that has often defined this event.
The race featured a compact peloton for much of the day, with several riders attempting to establish breakaways while the main field remained under control.
Although the race didn't unfold exactly as many riders had hoped, the team remained active and rode together throughout the day.
Unfortunately, the race ended on a difficult note for Amos, who was caught in a crash as the peloton approached the finish just before entering the final circuit. While he escaped with only minor injuries, his race ended with a broken bike and a DNF.
Road Race Results
While podium finishes weren't in the cards on the road, the experience gained racing Canada's strongest juniors continues to play an important role in each rider's development.
Day 3: Canadian Criterium Championships
The weekend concluded with the Canadian Junior Men's Criterium Championship through the streets of St-Georges.
As expected, the race was fast, technical, and aggressive from the opening laps. Attacks came throughout the race as riders looked for opportunities before the championship ultimately came down to a bunch sprint.
The team embraced the final race of the weekend with aggressive riding and a willingness to animate the race. Unfortunately, Luke was involved in a crash during the event. True to his determination, he remounted and returned to the race before eventually being forced to retire. Thankfully, he was okay.
