PNW made its way to the northern part of The Netherlands this summer to race the legendary Tour of Assen, held July 28th–August 1st.
The 58th Edition of the European Junior Cycling Tour Assen is one of the premier events in youth cycling, bringing together over 600 riders from 30 countries. Families, teams, and supporters filled the town, creating an atmosphere that was both electric and unforgettable.
The racing kicked off fast and technical with a 41km criterium through the streets of Assen. The team worked well together to cover moves and position riders at the front for the final laps. A thrilling sprint finish saw:
Graham’s consistency also earned him 3rd in the Points Classification. A strong start for the squad!
Rolling roads and constant attacks defined Stage 2. The team stayed calm under pressure, with Graham riding brilliantly to finish 2nd and move into 2nd overall in the Points Classification.
Unfortunately, Oscar went down with 3 laps to go. He’s okay, but the bike didn’t fare as well. The silver lining was watching the team immediately rally around him and continue to fight to the finish.
Stage 3 brought the much-anticipated mountain-top finish. The team rode strategically, protecting Aubrey and Jack while setting up for the final climb. Their teamwork paid off:
After three stages, morale was high, and the squad was well placed in the standings:
General Classification
Points Classification
Special Classification (Intermediate Sprints)
Time trials are always about grit, focus, and pacing. The squad dug deep on the technical 12km course, showing determination across the board:
This stage reshuffled the standings, but the riders knew they had one more chance to fight back on the final day.
The final stage delivered fireworks. The PNW squad executed a textbook team strategy—controlling the pace, marking attacks, and setting up for the sprint. In the closing laps, Amos delivered a perfect lead-out for Oscar, who stormed to the win!
When the dust settled, it was a proud day for the team:
Tour of Assen wasn’t just about results—it was about learning to race as a unit. Each rider stepped into their role, whether that meant covering early attacks, setting tempo, launching teammates into position, or giving a full-gas lead-out in the final meters.
These young athletes showed what happens when trust, sacrifice, and hard work come together. The wins were earned not by individuals but by a squad committed to racing for each other.
A heartfelt thank you to José and the entire Tour Assen organizing team for creating a world-class event for youth cycling. This race is truly a jewel in the international calendar, and we are grateful for the opportunity to take part.
PNW leaves Assen with jerseys, stage wins, and memories that will last a lifetime. More importantly, we leave as a stronger, tighter team—ready for what’s next.
